Dacia to launch second‑generation Spring EV in Europe while keeping gasoline and LPG models

Romanian carmaker Dacia, owned by France's Renault Group, announced that the second generation of its Spring electric city car will arrive in 2027. The new model will be the first Dacia EV built in Europe – likely at a plant in Turkey – and will retain the Spring’s low‑price positioning with a starting price of about €18,000. It will offer 45 hp and 65 hp electric motors, a 6.8 kWh battery and a WLTP‑rated urban range of up to 315 km, consuming 13.5–14 kWh per 100 km.

At the same time, Dacia said it will not abandon internal‑combustion engines. Sales director Igor Petković stated, “Dacia will be the last bastion of vehicles with internal‑combustion engines,” and outlined plans to expand its LPG‑equipped models, hybrids and 4×4 variants. The brand also unveiled the new Striker crossover, a family‑oriented vehicle equipped with LPG, hybrid‑electric and all‑wheel‑drive options, aimed at fleet buyers. Dacia’s strategy combines continued growth of its popular Spring – which has sold over 210,000 units in Europe and holds roughly 40 % of Romania’s EV market – with a broader lineup that retains affordable gasoline and LPG choices.
