Dacia confirms new‑generation Spring EV built in Europe with sub‑€18,000 price

Dacia, the Romanian brand of the Renault group, has officially announced the next generation of its Spring electric city car. The model will retain the Spring name but will be produced in Europe – at the same Slovenian plant that will assemble the upcoming Twingo – ending its current Chinese production.

The new Spring will feature a more modern design, a 40 kWh lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery supplied by CATL, and an electric motor of up to 90 hp, delivering a claimed range of more than 400 km on a single charge. Pricing is set to be below €18 000, with some reports indicating a target under €15 000 after incentives, making it one of the cheapest EVs on the market.

The vehicle will keep the core attributes that made the first Spring popular – four real seats, a usable boot and a low purchase price – while offering improved interior space and safety. Launch details are still pending, but a debut at the Paris Motor Show and sales in Turkey from the second half of 2027 have been mentioned. The announcement follows Dacia’s broader strategy to expand its affordable electric lineup over the next four years.
