Daegu elementary schools launch extensive summer programs for students

During the summer break, more than 230 elementary schools in Daegu are offering a range of specialized programs through the "Nulbom School" initiative. The city’s education office partnered with external agencies to provide activities that include AI and digital literacy workshops, financial education sessions by iM Financial Education Center and the Youth Financial Education Committee, and play‑based social development programs coordinated with Save the Children’s Eastern Region office. Additional offerings focus on agricultural experiences, nature‑based learning, and a variety of cultural and artistic events hosted by the city’s public libraries, such as AI‑assisted storytelling, coding mini‑cars, and reading‑focused workshops. The programs aim to keep students engaged, enhance learning outcomes, and provide safe, supervised environments throughout the heat‑wave‑prone summer period.

The initiative targets roughly half of Daegu’s 105,000 elementary pupils, with customized care and after‑school sessions mirroring regular‑term schedules. Financial literacy lessons cover topics like money management, allowance handling, and fraud prevention, while the play‑culture activities encourage peer interaction and emotional growth.
