Daegu Office of Education strengthens crime prevention for new semester
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education has announced a period of strengthened student guidance for the upcoming second semester to combat rising forms of youth crime. In collaboration with the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, the office aims to create a safer school environment by targeting specific emerging threats.
Key areas of focus include cyber gambling, cyber violence involving deepfakes, and ‘Yacha-rule’—a form of physical violence where participants agree not to report injuries. The initiative also includes measures to prevent voice phishing.
The two agencies will divide responsibilities: the Office of Education will focus on educational guidance, customized prevention programs, and psychological support for victims, while the Police Agency will increase patrols around schools and provide guidance for at-risk youth through School Police Officers (SPO).
