Daejon Love charged in $1.3M NFL player impersonation scam

Federal authorities have charged Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, with conspiracy and wire fraud following an alleged multi-year romance and investment scam. Prosecutors allege that Love impersonated a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and a wealthy real estate investor to defraud at least 26 women of approximately $1.3 million.

The scheme, which reportedly began in February 2022, targeted women across California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Love allegedly used dating apps to establish romantic relationships before introducing Chan, who posed as his financial adviser, to facilitate fraudulent investment opportunities. The pair used social media to project a lavish lifestyle, featuring luxury vehicles and 49ers apparel to bolster Love's false identity.

The FBI arrested Love and Chan at the Boise Airport in Idaho on August 24. Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
