Daejon Love arrested for allegedly defrauding women while posing as NFL player
Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and his alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan, have been arrested and charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Federal prosecutors allege the pair operated a sophisticated romance and investment scam targeting at least 26 women across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California.
Love allegedly used dating apps to establish romantic relationships with victims, while posing as a professional wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers and a wealthy real estate investor. To bolster his persona, Love reportedly used 49ers apparel, staged training videos, and fabricated social media content. He also claimed connections to prominent NFL players and asserted his family was among the wealthiest in Switzerland.
Chan allegedly acted as Love’s financial adviser, using three-way FaceTime calls to show victims falsified investment gains and encourage them to transfer funds or take out personal loans. Authorities estimate the total losses from the scheme exceed $1.3 million, though some reports suggest the amount could be as high as $1.8 million. Love is currently in federal custody and has been deemed a flight risk by prosecutors.
