Daejon Love charged in $1.3 million fake NFL player scam
Daejon Love, 35, and 18-year-old Jamie Chan face federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud following an alleged multi-million dollar investment scam. Authorities allege that Love posed as a San Francisco 49ers player and a wealthy real estate developer to build romantic relationships with women via dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon and FBI investigators, the pair allegedly used these relationships to coerce at least 26 victims into fraudulent investments, totaling approximately $1.3 million. The scheme involved creating fictitious investment documents and presenting fake bank statements showing balances exceeding $20 million to build trust. Chan reportedly acted as Love’s financial adviser.
Love was arrested near the Boise Airport while wearing San Francisco 49ers apparel. While the legal case proceeds, rapper Cam’ron has publicly defended Love, arguing that the social scrutiny regarding lifestyle presentation is inconsistent with how other individuals behave in similar social contexts.
