Daejon Love fraud case expands as FBI identifies 35 more victims

The FBI has identified 35 additional potential victims in a romance and investment fraud case involving Daejon Love, who allegedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers wide receiver. This brings the total number of alleged victims to more than 60.

Love and his 18-year-old accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, were arrested at a Boise, Idaho, airport in August. They face charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors allege Love used social media and dating apps to build fake personas, including a wealthy NFL player or a Swiss real estate investor, to convince women to invest in fraudulent schemes.

The deception included elaborate tactics such as custom 49ers helmets, fake bank statements showing balances exceeding $30 million, and coached FaceTime calls. The original investigation identified 26 victims who lost over $1.3 million. FBI Special Agent in Charge Doug Olson stated that authorities believe more victims may exist and urged anyone with information to contact the Portland FBI.
