DAET reports 224 arrests in first two months of operations

The Anti-Extortion and Terrorist Associations Division (DAET) in Honduras has reported 224 arrests during its first two months of operation. Director Daniel Molina stated that these detentions are the result of specialized intelligence and investigative work aimed at dismantling criminal structures, including gangs and organized crime groups.

The unit has undergone an internal reorganization to concentrate efforts on areas with the highest incidence of extortion. Molina emphasized that the division is focusing on strengthening the quality of investigative files to ensure that arrests lead to successful judicial proceedings and criminal responsibility in court.

Regarding personnel, Molina noted that the division is currently operating with a reduced force of approximately 400 officers. He also clarified that ongoing certification processes for agents are administrative evaluations intended to strengthen intelligence capabilities, though criminal procedures are initiated if an agent is found to have committed a crime.
