Daewoong Pharmaceutical launches Fexuclue in Indonesia
Daewoong Pharmaceutical has launched its proprietary gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) treatment, Fexuclue 40mg (fexuprazan hydrochloride), in Indonesia. The product has received approval for the treatment of erosive GERD.
Indonesia represents a significant market for the company, with a population of approximately 280 million and an anti-ulcer market valued at roughly $164.3 million. The local P-CAB (potassium-competitive acid blocker) market has shown rapid growth, increasing 8.9 times over the last two years. Daewoong plans to expand its prescription base by highlighting the drug's rapid onset of action and stable acid suppression.
To further strengthen its clinical evidence, the company is pursuing a multi-national phase 3 clinical trial in both South Korea and Indonesia to expand the treatment indication to include gastric ulcer treatment. Fexuclue is currently available in 30 countries, with marketing completed in eight nations including Mexico, India, and the Philippines.
