Daihatsu sees strong May sales as Indonesian buyers weigh new LCGC versus used cars

In May 2026, PT Astra Daihatsu Motor reported retail sales of 12,531 units in Indonesia, a 25% increase from the same month a year earlier, with 99% of the vehicles produced locally. LCGC models such as the Daihatsu Sigra and Ayla accounted for about 30% of total sales, while the Terios contributed roughly 10%.

The commercial Gran Max lineup remained a top seller, delivering 30,454 units across pick‑up and minibus variants. At the same time, Indonesian consumers with a budget of around Rp150 million must choose between low‑cost new cars—e.g., Daihatsu Ayla, Toyota Agya, Toyota Calya—or used higher‑segment models like older Avanza, Xpander, or Honda BR‑V, balancing purchase price against fuel consumption and upkeep costs.
