Daily habits affecting blood sugar and gallbladder health

Daily lifestyle habits beyond diet can significantly impact metabolic health and glucose regulation. Insufficient sleep is a key factor; according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), even a single night of poor sleep can reduce insulin sensitivity, making it harder for the body to use insulin effectively.

Additionally, prolonged periods of sitting and specific consumption habits, such as coffee intake, play roles in physiological responses. Research indicates that coffee—both caffeinated and decaffeinated—stimulates the hormone cholecystokinin, which causes the gallbladder to contract. While this is generally not an issue for healthy individuals, it may cause pain for those with existing gallstones.

While fats remain the strongest trigger for gallbladder contraction, individuals experiencing upper abdominal pain after consuming coffee or those diagnosed with gallstones are advised to consult a medical professional.
