Daimler Truck partners on hydrogen engines as Gobao unveils AI‑driven e‑bike system
Daimler Truck and German firm Keyou have announced a joint effort to convert existing 12.8‑litre diesel engines into hydrogen‑combustion units. The retrofit, aimed at Mercedes‑Benz Actros trucks, targets 476 hp and a range of over 600 km on compressed hydrogen, with mass production planned for 2027. Pilot projects are under way in Spain, where companies such as Barcelona‑based Evarm are already testing hydrogen‑fuel‑cell trucks for urban and regional use.
Chinese micromobility company Gobao disclosed its "Project X" platform, integrating a high‑power electric motor, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT) and AI‑based assistance. The system delivers up to 1 500 W, adapts gear ratios in real time, and supports fast‑charging that fills a 750 Wh battery from 10 % to 80 % in 20 minutes. Gobao’s European hub in Germany will supply the technology to e‑bike manufacturers across the continent.
