Daimler Truck unveils electric and hydrogen vehicles at IAA 2026

At the IAA Transportation 2026 trade fair, Daimler Truck showcased its technological roadmap for zero-emission logistics, marking 130 years since the invention of the truck. Key highlights include the debut of the Mercedes-Benz eActros Lowliner, an electric truck designed for high-volume long-distance transport, and the NextGenH2, a heavy-duty truck powered by liquid hydrogen fuel cells.

The NextGenH2 model is expected to enter series production in Germany by the end of 2026, with an initial order of 100 units from logistics operator Dachser. This hydrogen-powered vehicle offers a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers and can be refueled in approximately 15 minutes, emitting only water vapor.

In addition to hydrogen and battery-electric solutions, the company introduced the Powerliner system, which aims to reduce diesel consumption by up to 4% through integrated engine and transmission technology. Despite these advancements, Daimler Truck CEO Karin Rådström noted the need for increased government investment in charging and refueling infrastructure to support the transition to zero-emission transport.
