Dairy producers raise milk prices in Karachi and Odisha

Dairy producers in Karachi and Odisha are implementing milk price increases due to rising production and operational expenses.

In Karachi, the Gujjar Milk Sellers Union and Fresh Milk Union announced that fresh milk prices have risen by Rs30 per litre, moving from Rs220 to Rs250 per litre. Sellers cited higher costs for livestock maintenance, fodder, feed, and increased livestock prices as primary drivers. However, the district administration has rejected this hike, stating that government-approved prices for milk and yoghurt remain unchanged.

In Odisha, the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) will implement new retail rates starting October 4, 2026. Toned milk will increase by Rs4 per litre, while OMFED Premium and Gold Plus variants will rise by Rs2 per litre. This adjustment follows a decision to increase the procurement rate paid to dairy farmers by Rs2 per litre to offset rising cattle feed and transportation costs.
