Daiwa House consortium to pilot drone delivery for Tokyo tower mansions

A consortium consisting of Daiwa House Industry, NEXT DELIVERY, and AeroNext has been selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for a project to promote the social implementation of drone logistics services in urban areas. The project focuses on the coastal areas of Toyosu, Harumi, and Kiba.

Scheduled to run from fiscal year 2026 to 2027, the initiative aims to establish a standard model for drone delivery services specifically for tower mansions. The project will conduct flight and service demonstrations at Level 3.5, with the long-term goal of achieving Level 4 flight (unmanned flight in populated areas).

The project seeks to address logistics challenges such as the shortage of drivers and the high rate of redeliveries in urban centers. In tower mansions, internal delivery tasks can take significant time due to elevator waits and movement. By integrating drone ports as common infrastructure, the project aims to improve resident convenience, enhance property value, and provide a means for delivering emergency supplies during disasters.
