Daiwa House logistics automation projects in Japan

Overview

Daiwa House Industry is participating in multiple government-selected projects in Japan aimed at automating logistics to address driver shortages and labor regulations.

In one initiative supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, a consortium including Daiwa House, Dynamic Map Platform, and Hacobu will demonstrate autonomous truck operations at logistics facilities in Kanagawa Prefecture starting around December 2026. The project utilizes Level 4 autonomous trucks to test facility-based guidance systems and infrastructure-based safety support.

Simultaneously, a consortium including Daiwa House, NEXT DELIVERY, and AeroNext has been selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to pilot drone delivery services in urban coastal areas. Scheduled for fiscal year 2026 to 2027, this project aims to establish a delivery model for tower mansions using Level 3.5 flight demonstrations, with the long-term goal of achieving Level 4 unmanned flight in populated areas.
