Dak Lak authorities investigate festival misconduct

The Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has ordered an investigation and strict disciplinary action following reports of misconduct during the 2026 Dak Lak Durian Festival. Authorities are responding to complaints regarding excessive parking fees, where some locations reportedly charged between 30,000 and 100,000 VND per vehicle, often without providing receipts or staff to manage the vehicles.

In addition to parking issues, the provincial government has directed the provincial police to investigate reports of pickpocketing and property theft in crowded festival areas. To prevent further incidents, police have been tasked with increasing crime prevention measures and monitoring high-density locations.

Regarding media and communication, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been instructed to review the selection, licensing, and management of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). This directive follows reports of offensive remarks made by a KOL during the event. The department is expected to monitor communications more closely to prevent misinformation and inappropriate public statements.
