Dak Lak farmers and scientists drive regional economic and technological growth
In Dak Lak, Vietnam, local farmers and female scientists are implementing diverse strategies to enhance economic value and technological integration in the region.
Farmers are shifting toward integrated business models. In Hoa Son commune, some entrepreneurs are combining agricultural supply sales with technical consulting, providing interest-free materials to help neighbors maintain production. Other successful models include large-scale poultry farming in Tam Giang commune and a combination of forestry, hybrid wild boar husbandry, and charcoal production in Hoa My commune, which generates significant annual income.
Simultaneously, women are playing an increasing role in scientific research and digital transformation within the province. For instance, Dr. Van Thi Phuong Nhu from Phu Yen University has conducted research on endophytic bacteria in rice plants grown in eastern Dak Lak. These scientific contributions aim to improve agricultural productivity, resource efficiency, and sustainable development across various sectors including processing and environmental protection.
