Dak Lak province launches durian festival and 30‑day data‑digitisation campaign
The provincial government of Dak Lak, Vietnam, announced the inaugural provincial‑level Durian Festival, set to open at 20:00 on 15 August 2026 in Quảng Trường 10‑3, Buôn Ma Thuột. Deputy Chairman Đào Mỹ said the event will honour farmers and businesses, showcase the region’s cultural heritage, and promote tourism, investment and export opportunities. The festival will feature 17 activities, including a "Check‑in Festival – Receive Gifts" promotion and an attempt to set a Vietnamese record for a durian‑themed check‑in booth.
At the same time, the province launched a high‑intensity "30 day‑night" campaign (7 August – 7 September 2026) to digitise and standardise data on durian planting‑area codes and packing facilities. Ministry of Agriculture officials, provincial leaders and farmers such as Nguyễn Văn Châu visited farms to demonstrate the process. Deputy Chairman Nguyễn Thiên Văn explained that the digital map and traceability system will meet strict import‑market requirements, especially for China, and is a strategic step toward modernising the agricultural value chain.
The combined initiatives aim to boost durian production, improve export competitiveness, and create a recurring cultural‑tourism attraction for Dak Lak.
