Dak Lak reports 200% surge in dengue fever cases

Dengue fever cases in Dak Lak province have surged, with 1,339 infections recorded in August alone, representing a 207% increase compared to July. Since the beginning of the year, the province has reported a total of 5,700 cases and 252 outbreaks, 88 of which remain active.

The Dak Lak Department of Health noted that the rainy season has created favorable conditions for mosquitoes and larvae to thrive, driving the upward trend. Several localities, including Cu M'gar, Ea Tul, Buon Ma Thuot, Hoa Phu, and Tan Lap, have been identified as very high-risk areas.

Medical authorities have also reported severe complications. Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital recently performed emergency surgery on a 31-year-old patient suffering from severe Dengue fever, which had caused a ruptured spleen and abdominal hemorrhaging. Health officials are urging residents to proactively eliminate mosquitoes and larvae to prevent further spread.
