Dak Snghe River erosion threatens residents in Quang Ngai

Severe riverbank erosion along a 2.5km stretch of the Dak Snghe River in Kon Braih Commune, Quang Ngai Province, is threatening local residents and livelihoods. The erosion has caused significant damage to over 1,000 hectares of agricultural land, including crops such as cassava, coffee, and fruit trees.

Local residents report that the riverbanks are being hollowed out by heavy currents during the rainy season, creating large gaps that approach the foundations of homes and village access roads. All 163 households in Village 5, totaling 848 people, are situated in high-risk areas. Community members have expressed urgent requests for government intervention, specifically seeking the construction of embankments or relocation plans to ensure safety during heavy rains and floods.
