Dakahlia authorities crack down on bakery and market violations

Authorities in the Dakahlia Governorate have launched extensive inspection campaigns targeting bakeries and markets to ensure compliance with subsidized bread regulations and food safety standards.

In recent operations across the Talkha and Nabaroh districts, inspectors identified numerous violations, including bread weights being short by up to 16 grams, the illegal disposal of subsidized flour, and failure to meet hygiene or production specifications. These specific raids resulted in 23 legal citations.

Broader regional monitoring efforts have recorded a total of 131 violations. The findings include 84 violations in bakeries—primarily regarding weight shortages and unauthorized production halts—33 violations in public markets concerning unannounced prices and unknown product origins, and 14 violations by supply merchants. Additionally, authorities seized various items, including flour, bran, cooking oil, and frozen poultry, that were being handled improperly or lacked proper documentation.
