Damon Prison in Israel Holds Three Pregnant Palestinian Detainees

Three pregnant Palestinian women—Amina Shaher al‑Taweel (37), Dana Anad Joudah (35) and Manar Ibrahim (28)—are being held in Israel’s Damon Prison in Haifa. The detainees have been kept under administrative detention or incitement charges since March‑April 2026, with pregnancies ranging from four to five months.

Reports from the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club describe severe overcrowding, lack of privacy, shortages of hygiene supplies and limited medical monitoring. Prisoners sleep on the floor, receive no family visits, and endure frequent night raids and strip searches. The organisations argue that these conditions breach the Fourth Geneva Convention, which obliges an occupying power to protect pregnant women from cruel or degrading treatment.

Israeli authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations, while rights groups continue to demand the immediate release of the three women, citing the health risks to both the mothers and their unborn children.
