Danantara expands AI drive and hedge‑fund programme for Indonesia's SOEs

Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund Danantara is advancing a five‑year transformation roadmap for state‑owned enterprises that will prioritize artificial‑intelligence adoption in its third year. Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria said the plan moves from consolidation and talent development to innovation and digital transformation, aiming to boost efficiency and global competitiveness of the SOEs.

At the same time, Danantara is preparing its first hedge‑fund allocations, targeting three to four managers with separately managed accounts of at least $250 million each and average allocations around $500 million. Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir said the fund expects to begin allocating capital later this year, focusing on liquidity, manager reputation and a concentrated approach. The sovereign fund, which oversees roughly $1 trillion in assets, also plans to open a European office and deploy about $11 billion in 2026.
