D’Angelo Russell joins Shanghai Sharks in China
D’Angelo Russell is moving from the NBA to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), having signed a contract with the Shanghai Sharks. The 30-year-old guard joins the Chinese league following his release from the Memphis Grizzlies in early September.
Russell’s career in North America includes stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, and Minnesota Timberwolves. While he achieved an All-Star nomination during his time with the Nets and averaged 18 points per game during the 2023-24 season, he was unable to secure a long-term position in the Lakers' rotation before his departure to Memphis.
