Dangote Group Wins Top African Brand Awards and Secures Standard Bank Backing for Refinery IPO

Dangote Industries Limited was named Africa’s Most Admired Brand for the eighth consecutive year at the 16th Brand Africa 100 Awards in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The survey, covering 30 African markets, also recognized the group as the most admired industrial brand and highlighted its contributions to society and the environment.

During a visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Fertiliser complex in Lagos, Standard Bank Group chief executive Sim Tshabalala pledged support for the planned initial public offering of the refinery. The bank intends to play a leading advisory role and provide balance‑sheet support for future expansion. The refinery has recently operated at 700,000 barrels per day, surpassing its design capacity, and is credited with boosting Nigeria’s foreign‑exchange earnings, balance‑of‑payments position and energy security.
