Daniel Maldini involved in Milan car accident after scoring winning goal

Cagliari footballer Daniel Maldini was involved in a multi-vehicle road accident in Milan in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. when Maldini, driving a Porsche Carrera 4, reportedly failed to yield at an intersection, colliding with a Volkswagen Golf and subsequently a parked Mercedes. Six people were involved in the crash, all of whom sustained only minor injuries.

Following the collision, Maldini underwent sobriety testing. Breathalyzer results showed alcohol levels of 0.91 g/l and 0.89 g/l, exceeding the legal limit in Italy. While initial reports suggested a positive preliminary test for narcotics, Cagliari Calcio issued an official statement clarifying that subsequent comprehensive toxicological analyses returned negative results for all substances.

Maldini’s driving license has been withdrawn, and he faces legal proceedings for driving under the influence. The accident occurred just hours after the 24-year-old scored the winning penalty for Cagliari against Atalanta. The player has since been discharged from the hospital and is expected to return to training with his club.
