Daniel Maldini involved in car accident and faces license suspension

Cagliari midfielder Daniel Maldini was involved in a car accident in northern Milan in the early hours of a Saturday morning, just hours after scoring a decisive penalty in a Serie A match against Atalanta. The collision involved another vehicle and resulted in six people sustaining minor injuries, including Maldini.

Following the accident, Maldini underwent a preliminary roadside alcohol test that exceeded the legal limit, leading to the immediate suspension of his driver's license by Italian police. While initial reports suggested potential substance involvement, subsequent drug testing for various substances—including cocaine, marijuana, and amphetamines—returned ‘absent’ results.

Maldini was treated at Fatebenefratelli hospital and has since returned to training with Cagliari ahead of their upcoming match against Udinese.
