Daniel Noboa visits China to secure investments and trade agreements

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa is conducting an eight-day state visit to China to strengthen bilateral ties and attract investment in energy and mining. During meetings with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Zhao Leji, several cooperation agreements were finalized.

China has committed approximately USD 42.7 million in non-reimbursable cooperation to Ecuador. This includes USD 28 million for police vehicles, health services, and regional production, alongside USD 14.7 million for education and risk prevention. The agreements also establish a new photovoltaic cooperation framework to boost renewable energy capacity.

To address the El Niño phenomenon, China will provide technological support, including an AI-driven meteorological system for climate monitoring. Additionally, the visit follows the recent authorization for eight Ecuadorian shrimp exporters to return to the Chinese market, aiming to resolve remaining trade restrictions.
