Ecuador President Daniel Noboa advances energy, agriculture, and UN diplomatic agenda

Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa is undertaking a series of domestic and international initiatives. Domestically, the administration is focusing on agricultural support, delivering machinery, vehicles, and land titles to producers in provinces such as El Oro and the Sierra Centro. In El Oro, investments are also being directed toward road rehabilitation and tourism infrastructure.

On the energy front, Noboa stated that Ecuador’s primary challenge is electricity transmission rather than generation. He is negotiating with China for high-capacity transmission lines and solar energy projects to ensure sustainability through 2035. Additionally, the government aims to increase oil production to 500,000 barrels per day by the second half of 2027 through international partnerships.

Internationally, Noboa is traveling to the United States to attend the UN General Assembly and meet with officials from the U.S. Department of State. His agenda includes addressing transnational organized crime and strengthening international cooperation. Meanwhile, relations with China have been highlighted as strengthening, with discussions covering maritime protection in the Galápagos and trade in sectors like shrimp and bananas.
