Daniel Pancu appointed head coach of Rapid București

Daniel Pancu was officially confirmed as the new head coach of Rapid București on 27 May 2026, after resolving a contractual dispute with CFR Cluj. The club’s sporting director, Marius Bilașco, said the appointment had been expected and hoped Pancu would bring stability and aim for European competition next season.

Pancu emphasized the need for “peace and unity” within the team and supporters, stating that a harmonious environment would make the club stronger. He expressed confidence in the project at Rapid and pledged to work with the management, players and fans to restore the club’s success.

The move follows Rapid’s recent split with former coach Constantin Gâlcă and marks Pancu’s return to the club where he previously enjoyed a successful playing career.
