Romanian clubs transfer saga and league developments
Overview
Rapid Bucharest reshaped its board in early June, appointing Marius Burcescu as commercial director and confirming Daniel Pancu as head coach. Pancu secured centre-back Vladan Bubanja, striker Mohammed Kamara and defender Alin Kumer Celik, while ending the loans of Daniel Paraschiv and Leo Bolgado. Injuries hit the attack and a summer-window funding freeze forced the club to rely on player sales, notably the €7.5 million move of Albion Rrahmani to Venezia.
In late July, FC Argeș completed the permanent transfer of 19-year-old midfielder Gabriel Gheorghe from Rapid after ending his loan spell. Rapid president Victor Angelescu said the club was close to securing a striker on loan with an option to buy and intended to add a central midfielder and a left-back following the departures of Jakub Hromada, Kader Keita and defender Andrei Borza to Turkey.
Viitorul Argeș sued former youth international defender Andres Dumitrescu for €25,000, alleging a breached contract linked to his 2023 move to Slavia Prague; Dumitrescu’s lawyers claim the contract was falsified and that the club failed to provide promised support.
On 7 August, Rapid drew 0-0 with UTA Arad. In stoppage time, striker Filip Stojilkovic was brought down by Dmytro Pospelov, but referee Cătălin Roman issued a yellow card for simulation instead of a penalty. Coach Pancu reacted explosively at the post-match press conference, shouting “Penalty 100%!” and threatening to leave if not respected. The match also featured the first legally sanctioned pyrotechnic show in Romanian football under the “Legea Paraschiv”.
By 10 August, Rapid official Marius Bilașco confirmed the club is nearing the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Chec Bebel Doumbia on loan from Genoa. The club continues to search for a left-back to replace Andrei Borza.
