Goiás political landscape shifts as Daniel Vilela leads polls
Political activity in Goiás is intensifying ahead of the 2026 elections. Governor Daniel Vilela (MDB) currently leads polling with 45.1% of intended votes, followed by Marconi Perillo (PSDB) at 23.2% and Wilder Morais (PL) at 15%. Vilela is focusing his campaign on strategic regions like the Brasília Entorno and Aparecida de Goiânia, where he recently inaugurated a campaign committee.
In terms of public policy, the state is proceeding with a R$ 500 million acquisition of a building to establish a new Hugo Emergency Hospital. The facility will expand capacity to 500 beds and include 20 surgical rooms, some equipped for robotics.
Other candidates are also active: Gracinha Caiado is campaigning for the Senate, emphasizing social continuity, while Wilder Morais has visited the Ceasa-GO distribution center to address infrastructure concerns. Meanwhile, in Rondônia, the management of the Adamastor Teixeira de Oliveira Regional Hospital remains a subject of legal and administrative dispute involving the municipal government and the state.
