Goiás Governor Daniel Vilela (MDB) has presented his administration's achievements and future proposals as he seeks reelection. During a recent debate, Vilela emphasized the state's progress in public security, education, and poverty reduction, noting that over 600,000 families have moved out of extreme poverty in recent years.
In the healthcare sector, Vilela highlighted the expansion of the state network, reporting that ICU beds increased from approximately 200 in just three municipalities to 780 beds distributed across 22 cities. The administration also added eight regional hospitals and six polyclinics, with elective surgeries rising from 2,200 in 2018 to over 35,000 projected for 2025. Future plans include adding 300 beds in the Metropolitan Region and implementing the new Hospital de Urgências de Goiânia (Hugo).
Regarding education, the Governor pointed to the state's success in public high schools, noting that Goiás holds seven of the ten best public high schools in the country. Vilela expressed his intention to continue the management style established alongside former Governor Ronaldo Caiado.
