Danilo Napolitano gets 20‑year doping ban; Salus president Moretto banned 8 years
Former professional cyclist Danilo Napolitano, who was sport director of the junior team Salus Seregno De Rosa, was handed a 20‑year suspension for alleged violations of WADA code articles 2.6 and 2.8 concerning possession and administration of prohibited substances. Club president Marco Moretto received an eight‑year ban after being accused of complicity (article 2.9) and breaches of evidence standards (article 3.1). While the typical maximum penalty for such infractions is four years, the sanctions were extended because Salus operates exclusively at youth level; a lifetime ban was avoided. The case became public in the spring following provisional suspensions in April. The regional president of the Italian Cycling Federation, Stefano Pedrinazzi, defended the club but the disciplinary decisions were upheld.
