Danish defense industry expands through new aerospace and security partnerships

Several major defense and aerospace companies have announced strategic partnerships to bolster Denmark’s sovereign defense capabilities and industrial infrastructure.

Thales and Systematic have entered a partnership to provide the Danish Armed Forces with advanced, interoperable air defense capabilities. This collaboration integrates Systematic’s command-and-control software with Thales’ combat-proven systems, such as SAMP/T NG. The initiative aims to support Danish Air Command and Control (C2) and Surface-Based Air Missile Defence (SBAMD) requirements while strengthening local industrial value and NATO interoperability.

Separately, Airbus Helicopters and Terma have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand their industrial cooperation. The agreement focuses on advanced manufacturing of composite and metal parts, electronic warfare system integration, and research and development. A key component is the establishment of localized maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for the Danish Armed Forces through a joint venture between Terma and Norway’s Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS), intended to create a self-reliant domestic support ecosystem.
