Danish defense technology and industrial expansion

Overview

Denmark is advancing its defense capabilities through new technological innovation models and industrial partnerships. An initiative titled ‘From Intelligence to Business’ was established between the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE), and Industriens Fond. This partnership seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and operational needs by focusing on high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and automation.

In tandem with these research efforts, the Danish defense industry is expanding its industrial infrastructure through strategic corporate collaborations. Thales and Systematic have partnered to provide advanced air defense capabilities to the Danish Armed Forces, integrating command-and-control software with combat-proven systems. Additionally, Airbus Helicopters and Terma have entered a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on advanced manufacturing and electronic warfare, including the establishment of localized maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities through a joint venture with Norway’s Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services.
