Danish inspections reveal high rate of underage alcohol sales

Data obtained through a freedom of information request reveals that minors were able to successfully purchase alcohol in more than one out of every three inspections conducted by the Danish Safety Technology Authority.

During the trial period spanning July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2026, 1,389 alcohol-related inspections were carried out. Of these, 483 inspections resulted in violations where alcohol was sold to underage controlled buyers. The trial, which utilizes individuals aged 15 to 17 to test compliance in shops and kiosks, is currently subject to a legislative proposal to extend the scheme until the summer of 2028.
