Danish military admits errors in 2025 drone incident report
The Danish Armed Forces have admitted to errors in an initial report regarding unidentified drone incursions that occurred in the autumn of 2025. The incidents, which took place ahead of an EU summit in Copenhagen, involved drones flying over both civilian and military air bases, including the Skrydstrup air base where Ukrainian pilots receive F-16 training.
Following skepticism from media reports and witness accounts that contradicted the official version, Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus ordered a review. The revised report acknowledges that the military's previous account may have been mistaken, specifically noting that soldiers might have fired into the air while a civilian aircraft was passing nearby.
Despite the reporting errors, the military maintained that shots were fired at objects believed to be drones based on their flight paths. Denmark is currently working to strengthen its drone detection and anti-drone capabilities in response to these security challenges.
