Danish municipalities report strong school performance

Recent educational data shows strong academic performance in Danish municipalities Vesthimmerland and Kolding.

In Vesthimmerland, 94.4 percent of 9th-grade students achieved at least a grade of 02 in both Danish and mathematics during the summer 2026 exit exams. This figure is significantly higher than the national average of 89 percent and represents an increase from 89.9 percent in 2025. Local officials attribute this success to targeted teaching efforts and the cancellation of traditional reading holidays in favor of exam preparation.

In Kolding, data from the Ministry of Children and Education indicates a positive academic lifting capacity. The municipality's schools are performing better than statistically expected based on students' socioeconomic backgrounds, with the overall lifting capacity rising from +0.09 to +0.14 grade points. Munkevænget School was highlighted as a top performer nationally. Kolding's success is particularly noted in mathematics and science, supported by investments in teacher competence and practical instruction.
