Danish police arrest suspects in fraud and violent crime cases

Danish authorities have made significant arrests in two separate criminal investigations. In Copenhagen, a 24-year-old Swedish national was arrested for suspected contact fraud. Police allege the individual used phone calls and fraudulent SMS messages, impersonating bank officials, to manipulate citizens into transferring large sums of money and approving payments via MitID.

In a separate case, the Holstebro Court has remanded a 20-year-old man in custody, marking the final arrest in a group of four suspects. The group is charged with robbery, prolonged deprivation of liberty, unlawful coercion, aggravated assault, and data fraud. The charges involve the alleged eight-day captivity of a man from Bjerringbro, during which he was reportedly beaten with a metal baseball bat and scalded with a hot pan. The four suspects will remain in pre-trial detention until at least September 9.
