Danny Jordaan has secured a fourth term as the president of the South African Football Association (SAFA) following the association’s elective congress. Jordaan received 157 votes, defeating challenger and businessman Sandile Zungu, who earned 82 votes.

This victory extends Jordaan’s leadership of South African football, a tenure that began in 2013. He previously led the successful bid for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The re-election occurs amid ongoing legal and governance scrutiny. Jordaan and four co-accused are facing charges of fraud, theft, and conspiracy related to the alleged misuse of over R1.3 million in SAFA funds between 2014 and 2018. The state alleges funds were used for private security and public relations services without proper approval. Jordaan has denied these allegations. Additionally, he has faced past accusations of sexual assault, which he also denies.
