Chicago Cubs face injury setbacks for Swanson and Cabrera

The Chicago Cubs are facing significant roster challenges due to a series of injuries. Shortstop Dansby Swanson has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain and is expected to miss approximately four weeks. Additionally, pitcher Edward Cabrera was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right-hand blister following a difficult outing against the St. Louis Cardinals, where he allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings. Closer Daniel Palencia has also been moved to the 60-day injured list as a procedural roster move.

On the field, the Cubs recently secured a dramatic 7-5 victory over the Chicago White Sox in a 10-inning Crosstown Classic. Pete Crow-Armstrong led the effort, hitting a leadoff home run and a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning. Despite these recent successes, the team continues to manage pitching depth and player availability as they navigate the remainder of the regular season.
