Darializa Chevalier advocates for black socialism in New York congressional run

Darializa Avila Chevalier, a Democratic candidate for New York’s 13th Congressional District and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has announced plans to promote identity-specific socialist frameworks.

During an interview on ELR News, Chevalier stated her intention to “build black socialism within the caucuses of DSA.” She explained that her campaign aims to focus on the “legacy of socialism” in her district, specifically through “black socialism” and “Latino socialism,” which she describes as approaches that focus on “racial justice as economic justice.”
