Dario Fo centenary celebrated with performances in Italy and New York

In Castiglione Olona, Italy, the courtyard of Palazzo Branda hosted a staging of Dario Fo and Franca Rame’s play *Tutta casa, letto e chiesa* on 27 June. The performance, presented by the municipality, featured actress Marina De Juli and blended comic‑grotesque satire with reflections on women’s lives.

Separately, the Italian Cultural Institute in New York presented *Santo Jullare Francesco*, a satirical work by Fo and Rame, on the centenary of Fo’s birth. Actor Matthias Martelli performed the entire piece in Italian, highlighting the historic and social themes of Saint Francis of Assisi. Both events were organized in collaboration with Italian theatrical institutions and marked the 100‑year anniversary of the Nobel‑winning playwright’s birth.
