Dario Fo centenary theatre events

The centenary celebrations for Nobel‑winning playwright Dario Fo have spread across continents. In late June 2026 Italy opened the commemoration with a staging of *Tutta casa, letto e chiesa* in Castiglione Olona, while the Italian Cultural Institute in New York presented the satirical piece *Santo Jullare Francesco*.

In July, the program moved to South America and the Mediterranean. Santiago’s Centro Cultural Lo Prado hosted a production of *Mistero Buffo* directed by Eugenio Allegri, featuring actor Matthias Martelli and supported by Turin’s Teatro Stabile di Torino, before a masterclass on commedia dell’arte organized by the Italian Cultural Institute. Approximately 300 spectators attended.

At the La Notte dei Poeti festival in Pula, Sardinia, Jacopo Fo performed a recital of his father’s little‑known songs, presenting more than 350 pieces—many broadcast for the first time—and underscoring the political satire that defined Dario Fo’s work.

Later in the month, Milan’s Alik Cavaliere Artistic Center staged a reading of *Il Giardino dei Centenari*, highlighting women’s dialogue in Fo’s *Diario di Eva* and linking the centenary to broader contemporary‑art events such as the Festival delle Orestiadi in Sicily, which will conclude with concerts and theatrical productions in late July and early August.
