Helen Kevric claims second gold as Germany’s gymnastics championships showcase comeback and Varfolomeev dominance

At the German gymnastics championships in Hannover, 18‑year‑old Helen Kevric returned from a serious knee injury to win gold on the uneven bars (13.025 points) and on the balance beam, defeating former world champion Pauline Schäfer‑Betz. Because she entered the competition without a personal coach, Kevric presented her own medals after the events.

In the rhythmic gymnastics final, Darja Varfolomeev secured the all‑around title with a winning score of 118.85 points, despite a few errors on the ribbon. The 19‑year‑old from Schmiden reaffirmed her status as a favourite for the home world championships in Frankfurt and the upcoming European championships in Zagreb.

Both athletes are now looking ahead to the European Championships in Zagreb (13‑16 August), where they are expected to contend for medals, while the German federation prepares its final team selections.
