Helen Kevric comeback and European gold

Overview

German gymnast Helen Kevric has successfully begun her international comeback at the European Gymnastics Championships in Zagreb. This follows a severe knee injury sustained in May 2025.

Kevric secured the gold medal on the uneven bars with a score of 14.500, making her the first German European champion on that apparatus since Elisabeth Seitz in 2022. This victory comes approximately 15 months after her injury in Leipzig. During the same championships, German teammate Karina Schönmaier won silver in the vault.

Despite her competitive success, Kevric continues to face coaching instability. Following abuse allegations at the Stuttgart gymnastics center, her previous partnership with Aimee Boorman was dissolved in March. While her teammates receive full coaching support, Kevric is competing without a dedicated coach.
