Dark Souls II receives new Seamless Co-op mod for PC

A new community-made mod titled ‘Seamless Co-op’ has been released in alpha for the PC version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. Developed by Yui, the mod fundamentally alters the game’s original multiplayer mechanics by allowing up to six players to inhabit the same world simultaneously.

Unlike the standard game, which relies on temporary summons and session breaks after boss encounters, this mod removes barriers between zones. This allows a group to progress from the tutorial to the final boss in a single, continuous session. The mod also synchronizes NPC dialogues and player progress to ensure a unified experience.

Gameplay mechanics regarding player death have been adjusted; if a player is defeated, they return to the last bonfire while the remaining group members can continue the fight. While the developer acknowledges that increased cooperation may lower the game's signature difficulty, the primary goal is to enhance the shared social experience. The project is currently in alpha and available via Nexus Mods and GitHub.
